A CIRCLE HELD WITH CARE

Your identity deserves careful handling.

Optional, with a separate choice

Identity verification is optional for registered adults. It does not unlock basic access, followers, or extra influence. Account Center shows whether a provider is connected; when unavailable, no ID or selfie submission is accepted. Do not email documents to Worlds Light or post them in the community.

What a connected Stripe check does

The prepared integration uses Stripe Identity’s hosted government-issued photo-ID check with a matching selfie. Stripe may use facial biometrics to compare the selfie with the ID photograph and assess authenticity. A selfie alone is not treated as identity verification. Before leaving the app, you must explicitly consent to the described ID and biometric processing. Stripe presents its own notices and supported documents on its page.

A successful live result must match this account and pass the required ID, selfie, and adult-eligibility checks before a badge can be earned. Browser redirects, uploaded photos, client claims, and test-mode results cannot award a badge. A provider-confirmed under-18 result pauses community access and retains a minimal account-linked eligibility hold so deleting and re-registering cannot bypass the block. The hold contains no birth date or document. Support is available for individual review. Missing provider results never award a badge. Verification can make mistakes; ask for help if you believe a result is incorrect.

Data and who may access it

Stripe receives identity documents, photographs, extracted personal details, and biometric information. The Worlds Light operator may have access to collected identity information through Stripe’s dashboard and must restrict that access. The app does not download or store document images, selfies, ID numbers, legal names, full addresses, or birth dates in its own database. It retains a provider session reference, consent version and time, processing result, and verification timestamp. A birth date returned by the provider is used transiently to check adult eligibility and is not saved by Worlds Light.

Your public profile continues to use your Neighbor name. Displaying an earned badge is a separate optional setting. Other Neighbors do not receive your ID information, selfie, age, or legal name. A badge is not a character assessment, professional credential, background check, guarantee of safety, or endorsement of posts.

Retention, withdrawal, and deletion

Use Remove verification in Account Center to hide the badge, clear the result, and request provider redaction. Deleting your Worlds Light account also requests redaction. Stripe says redaction can take up to four days; it may retain data separately under its own legal obligations and privacy policy. A failed provider request is retained as a session-only deletion task without the link to your deleted Worlds Light account, for operator follow-up. Contact support if a deletion remains pending. Uncompleted or failed attempts are not displayed to other Neighbors.

Stripe’s default business retention may be longer if no deletion is requested. Please read Stripe’s retention and deletion guidance and Stripe’s Privacy Policy. You may also make privacy requests directly to Stripe.

Help and choices

You may decline or remove optional verification and continue ordinary community use, subject to eligibility and conduct rules. For access, correction, deletion, an incorrect result, or another privacy question, contact justeseanyemail+worldslight@proton.me. Do not attach IDs or selfies to an initial message.
